Post-Surgical Reflection
"...That time may find its sound again, and cleanse
Whatever it is that a wound remembers
After the healing ends."—Weldon Kees from "Small Prayer"
As my recovery proceeds and I experience longer stretches of time without pain, I am reminded of this lovely short poem by Weldon Kees. It can be found in his Collected Poems and is well worth seeking out. I am indebted to Naomi for calling my attention to it.

WOO HOO!!! Yay for less and less pain! :)
Thanks Heather!
At first, I thought the title of this entry was "Post-Surgical Infection" which would be very unfortunate. (Just ask me and I'll bore you silly.) I wish you a speedy and uncomplicated recovery. Nice poem, too!
Thanks Jim! Recovery is still proceeding nicely. (I had hernia surgery 2 weeks ago today; all went well.) Great to hear from you. Feel free to e-mail me directly as well: gluce727@yahoo.com.
