New Poem for the Weekend
Poem: Naomi
You are not
a metaphor you are
the poem itself:
shapely as a sonnet
you move with
the graceful rhythm
of a pastoral ode yet
you speak with
metaphysical wit.
I am a line
of blank verse
until you lie
beside me
and we rhyme
a perfect couplet.

New Poem & New Link
And here's a new poem, with a newer one to follow in a day or two:
Toward the End of Winter
The wind pauses
as if gathering breath
suspended in one
moment’s stillness
along the edge
of sunlight and
shadow on the
sidewalk I pause
myself scarcely
breathing until
the wind picks up
again and harries me
on along.

New Poem
Unlike Achilles You touch my hand February 9, 2005
(For Naomi)
with one finger
and instantly my heart
feels it. Touch any part
of my skin with any part
of yours and I am
opened fully, my leg
trembles when your hand
brushes my back,
my right arm feels
your fingers on my face.
Unlike Achilles
I have no vulnerable
place: Touch me anywhere,
the sweet wounds bless
me everywhere.
Happy Valentine's Day all!
