A God Who Soars

Photo by Rich Reid from nationalgeographic.com

I've been writing quite a bit lately and some poems have emerged. Here's one, originally drafted in December, that has already passed the "Naomi test":

Hawk

“…a Red-tailed hawk may become a living metaphor
for the divine.” – Sam Keen,
Sightings

The god who circles,
soars, and rises
The god who plunges,
plummets, and kills
The god who rends flesh,
bone, and feathers
The god who holds you
breathless, still, eyes fixed
long after he has flown

Link Updates

I've added two new links recently. I used to have joe de vivre over there but I indavertently seem to have deleted it. Sorry, Joe, and welcome back.

Western Swing on 78 is a great site offering extensive downloads of fine Western Swing bands beyond the towering Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys.

Check 'em both out & as always, tell 'em Enchilada sent you.

Why Keep Going?

"Art [is] as old as civilization. If one can add one thing to so long a history, one color or shape or tone, one perception to so long a history, that is a great deal to do." —George Oppen

More on this fine and too-little known American poet here and here.
